In recent years, the prevalence of dementia in individuals with Down syndrome has increased due to the increased life span (Barnes, 2010; Maaattaa et al., 2011). However, there is a lack of information available for caregivers experiencing this with their loved ones (Barnes, 2010). The purpose of this project is to increase knowledge on the topic, caregiver confidence, ability to find resources and awareness of caregiver burnout. Six individuals participated in a three-part Dementia and Down Syndrome Training Series, which consisted of three different topics. Through a pre and post survey, the main findings of this study revealed increased family education leads to improved knowledge, confidence, and ability to find resources for caregivers providing for individuals with Down syndrome and dementia.
